CMS Mandate: Catheter-Associated UTI

CMS Mandate on Preventing Hospital Acquired Conditions

CalendarHospital acquired, catheter associated UTI is one of the ten categories that Medicare will no longer offer reimbursement for treatment. For hospital patient discharges after October 1, 2008, hospitals will not receive additional Medicare payments for treating any of the ten conditions if it was not present on admission. Therefore, prevention of hospital-acquired catheter associated UTI becomes a major issue for nursing staffs across the country. This Knowledge Center contains in-depth content on the condition and its prevention.
